Troubled clothes is een allegorische fotoreeks over textiel en de problemen die er mee gepaard gaan; een project ontstaan uit een samenwerking met Cilab Mechelen. De afgebeelde personen dragen maskers en hoofddeksels uit gerecycleerde of herbruikte materialen : textiel, papier en plastic.
Het zijn geen letterlijke afbeeldingen, maar artistieke wat bevreemdende beelden waar de problematiek in vervlochten zit.

Het eerste luik ( The ways of textile ) roept beelden op van moderne slavernij, de gigantische afstanden die textiel aflegt, de bergen verpakking, de valstrik van fast fashion, de drang om modieus te zijn, en ons geweten dat we hier voor te slapen leggen.

Ook in het tweede deel ( Faces of fashion ), bestaande uit zelfportretten, kan je vergelijkbare thema's terug vinden :
het al dan niet recycleerbaar zijn van textiel, het vervoer, de overconsumptie, de machtige bedrijven die belang hebben om de verspilling in stand te houden, de macht en symboliek van kleding...

Het derde luik ( Dyed fish ) verwijst naar de vervuiling die gepaard gaat met de productie, en dan specifiek de vele kleurstoffen die geloosd worden in het aquatisch milieu.

Troubled Clothes est une série de photos allégoriques sur les textiles et les problèmes qui y sont associés ; un projet né d'une collaboration avec Cilab Mechelen. Les personnes représentées portent des masques et des couvre-chefs fabriqués à partir de matériaux recyclés ou réutilisés : textiles, papier et plastique.
Ce ne sont pas des images littérales, mais des images artistiques quelque peu étranges dans lesquelles les problèmes en question s'entremêlent.

La première section (The ways of textile) évoque des images de l'esclavage moderne, des distances gigantesques que parcourent les textiles, des montagnes d'emballages, de la piège de la fast fashion, de l'envie d'être à la mode et de notre conscience que nous endormons pour cela..

Vous pourrez également retrouver des thèmes similaires dans la deuxième partie ( Faces of fashion ), composée d'autoportraits :
le recyclage ou non des textiles, les transports, la surconsommation, les puissantes entreprises qui ont intérêt à entretenir le gaspillage, puis le pouvoir et la symbolique du vêtement...

La troisième section ( Dyed fish ) fait référence à la pollution liée à la production, et plus particulièrement aux nombreux colorants rejetés dans le milieu aquatique.

Troubled clothes is an allegorical photo series about textiles and the problems that come with them; a project that emerged from a collaboration with Cilab Mechelen. The people depicted wear masks and headgear made from recycled or reused materials: textiles, paper and plastic.
They are not literal images, but artistic, somewhat strange images in which the problems are interwoven.

The first part (The ways of textile) evokes images of modern slavery, the gigantic distances that textiles travel, the mountains of packaging, the trap of fast fashion, the urge to be fashionable, and our conscience that we lay down to sleep for this.

In the second part ( Faces of fashion ), consisting of self-portraits, you can also find similar themes:
the recyclability or otherwise of textiles, transport, overconsumption, the powerful companies that have an interest in maintaining waste, the power and symbolism of clothing...

The third part ( Dyed fish ) refers to the pollution that accompanies production, and specifically the many dyes that are discharged into the aquatic environment.
