Kom tijdens het Ante Festival 2025 het voormalig stationsgebouw van Schaarbeek ontdekken !
Het voormalige stationsgebouw van Schaarbeek - vandaag de toegangspoort tot Train World - is het meest indrukwekkende voorbeeld van laat-negentiende-eeuwse, begin twintigste-eeuwse spoorwegarchitectuur in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Het station ademt de geest van Jules Verne, met zijn opvallende, bolvormige torendak dat doet denken aan een duikershelm, en het imposante hoefijzervormige raam. De bouw verliep in twee fasen: het eerste deel met zijn neobarokke toren, gebouwd in 1887, sluit naadloos aan bij het nabijgelegen stadhuis. Zo’n dertig jaar later ontwierp architect F. Seulen de meer expressieve uitbreiding aan de rechterkant. Beide gebouwen werden in 1994, samen met het bagagedepot en de luifels van de perrons, beschermd.
Tijdens de rondleiding komen bezoekers alles te weten over het indrukwekkende stationsinterieur met de goed bewaarde eerste klas lokettenzaal, het oude stationsbuffet en de monumentale wachtzaal waar vooral de enorme metalen spanten, de loketten in neorenaissancestijl en de kleurrijke tegelvloeren de aandacht trekken.
Het Ante-ticket geeft bezoekers ook toegang tot de museumzalen van Train World.
During the Ante Festival 2025, come and discover the Old Schaerbeek Train Station !
The old Schaerbeek station building – now the entrance to Train World – is one of the most impressive examples of railway architecture from the late 19th/early 20th century in the Brussels region. With its imposing horseshoe-shaped window and spherical turret roof that resembles a diver’s helmet, the station evokes the universe of Jules Verne. The construction took place in two phases: the first, in 1887, with its neo-Baroque tower harmoniously complements the nearby town hall. About thirty years later, architect F. Seulen designed the more expressive extension on the right. The two buildings were protected in 1994 along with the luggage depot and the platform canopies.
During the guided tour, visitors will learn all about the impressive interior of the station, with its well-preserved first-class ticket hall, the former station buffet and the monumental waiting room with its huge metal trusses, neo-Renaissance ticket counters and colourful tiles.
The Ante tour ticket also grants access to the Train World museum.
